Jimmy Page | The Forum 1983
Guitarist Jimmy Page in December, 1983, performing at The Forum in Los Angeles as part of the ARMS concert tour for a Ronnie Lane benefit, who suffered multiple sclerosis.
Ronnie Lane was the beloved bass player of the band Small Faces. When he was diagnosed with MS he did whatever he could to support research for this illness. The Action for Research into Multiple Sclerosis (ARMS) came together first as a benefit concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and then dfollowed by a USA tour.
Jimmy Page was one of the 3 guitarists on stage. Jeff Back and Eric Clapton, the other two. Ronnie Lane, affectionally called Plonk, recorded an Italian version of "Green Circles" by The Small Faces in 1967. Italian lyrics by yours truly!
We had a lot of fun at Olympic Studios where the band was recording for "Small Faces" their first album on the Immediate label. In October we flew together to Italy to promote album and Raggi Verdi (Green Circles). Their new manager was Andrew Loog Oldham.
